Olympic & Grand Linear Park

Lyric served as the project designer for Deborah Murphy’s team on this Proposition 84 Stormwater Grant proposal for the local redevelopment agency, playing a key role in the interpretation of design ideas elicited from the community. The proposal envisioned reclaiming a redundant lane of traffic and combining it with an existing sidewalk in front of the Federal Center near FIDM to produce a linear park with a giant community picnic table, central water feature, misting stations and photovoltaic “trees.”

Siobhán developed a kit-of-parts system for getting the most out of the community’s creative minds. She helped organize a tour through several of Los Angeles‘ linear parks which helped serve as precedents and, most importantly, became a point of reference for scale, boundary and safety issues. The conceptual design is a synthesis of the many creative ideas discussed at community meetings.
